Took this out in a heavy downpour and stayed completely dry, the Gore-Tex fabric really lives up to the hype. The pit zips are a lifesaver for dumping heat when you're hiking uphill.

The Gore-Tex shell handled a sudden downpour during my ridge hike without a single drop soaking through, and the streamlined cut didn’t flap around in the wind. It’s a serious piece of kit for the price, but if you’re on the trail often, it’s worth every penny.

The blue color looks even better in person, and the Gore-Tex feels tough yet flexible right out of the box—no stiff break-in period at all. I’ve worn it through a full day of mixed drizzle and wind, and the streamlined fit didn’t bunch up under a pack, which is exactly what I wanted.
